Photo Booth Backdrops & Enclosure Kits

More than the enclosure footprint suggests. A 360 Spinner Booth Enclosure needs clear room for the arm to swing a full circle without catching a chair, a pillar or a guest's drink, plus standing space around it for the queue and the people filming. In a hotel function room that usually means siting it away from the dance floor edge rather than in a corner. Measure the room, mark the swing circle out with tape at set-up, and keep tables outside that line.

An open wall such as the Custom 180° Curved Enclosure Wall or the U Shape Wide Photo Booth is sociable — guests watch each other, group shots are easy, and it becomes a feature of the room. A fully enclosed option such as the Cube Tent full doorway booth or the Round Enclosure Photo Booth Tent gives privacy, blocks out distracting background and controls the light far better. Weddings and christenings tend to suit open walls; late-night parties where people want to be silly suit an enclosure. If the room behind the booth is busy or unattractive, enclose it.

Most disappointing booth photos are a lighting problem, not a backdrop problem. Function rooms are lit from overhead, which drops shadows under people's eyes, and coloured disco lighting spilling across a printed backdrop will shift its colour badly on camera. A booth with its own controlled lighting, such as the 360° Custom Printed Exhibition Booth with LED lights, fixes both by putting an even light on faces from the front. If you are using an unlit enclosure, position it away from the DJ's lighting rig and away from a window that will change through the evening.

Keep the busy detail low down and out of the centre, because the middle of the panel at head height is where faces sit and a strong pattern behind a face is distracting. Avoid very fine repeating lines, which can produce a shimmering moiré effect on camera, and avoid pure white if you want people to stand out. Names and dates read best when placed high or offset to one side so they are not blocked by a group. Our free artwork assistance and free 2D mockup let you see exactly where heads will fall against your design before it is printed.

Yes, and that is a large part of why they exist. These enclosures and backdrop walls are freestanding structures with their own frames, so nothing is screwed, nailed or taped to the venue's walls — which matters in listed buildings, hotel function rooms and barn wedding venues where the hire agreement rules out fixings entirely. Check the room's ceiling height before you order, as some village halls are lower than the standard backdrop height. Also confirm the access route, because a fixed narrow doorway or a spiral stair is what usually causes problems on the day.

They can, but treat outdoors as a different job. Any panel of fabric behaves like a sail, so an enclosure sited on grass or under an open-sided marquee needs weighting at the base and ideally a position with a solid wall or hedge behind it. Daylight also changes through the afternoon, so a booth that looks perfect at four o'clock can be backlit and washed out by seven. Inside a closed marquee you have better control, but check the lining colour, as a strong coloured lining will cast onto skin tones.

Corner positions are common because they keep the booth out of the traffic flow, and shapes are designed around that. The Custom Printed Trade Show Corner Booth uses two walls to fill an existing corner efficiently, while the Half Circle Photo booth Enclosure and Hexagonal Vogue Booth Enclosure give an enclosed feel from a smaller footprint than a full circle. The Spiral Backdrop for Photo Booths suits a position guests approach from one side. Sketch the room first and decide where the queue will stand, then pick the shape that leaves that space clear.

They are built to be assembled and struck repeatedly, which is what a hire operator needs, and the tension fabric graphics fold down for transport rather than travelling as rigid panels. If you are running weekly bookings, buy a second set of graphics for the same frame so one can be washed or replaced without cancelling a job, and keep frame parts bagged by section so set-up stays quick under time pressure.
