Dye-sublimation is a heat-transfer process that turns solid dye into gas so it bonds directly with polyester fibres. Because the colour becomes part of the fabric rather than a coating sitting on top, prints will not crack, peel or flake, and the surface keeps a soft handle that folds without damage. This is what allows a fabric banner to be packed into a bag, carried to a venue and hung without the shine and surface marking you get from rigid or laminated alternatives.

For most stands at venues such as the NEC Birmingham or ExCeL London, TrueKolor wrinkle-free fabric is the safest choice because it recovers from folding and needs no steaming on site. Choose blockout fabric when the banner is double-sided or when light behind the graphic would otherwise show through, and poly poplin when you want a lightweight, economical backdrop for a short run of events. If the banner will be handled repeatedly by different staff, the wrinkle-free option almost always saves time on build day.

Fabric is printed on woven polyester, which gives a matte, low-glare finish that photographs cleanly, while PVC and vinyl are plastic-coated and reflect hall lighting and camera flash. Fabric is also considerably lighter, folds into a carry bag instead of being rolled on a tube, and is PVC-free, which increasingly matters where organisers or clients ask for lower-impact materials. For anything appearing in press photography or on camera, fabric is the more forgiving surface.

Several fabrics in this collection are made for outdoor use, in particular 600D polyester and the scaffolding banner format, which are built for wind loading and prolonged exposure. Outdoor banners should always be fixed with eyelets or a reinforced perimeter and tensioned properly, as an unsupported banner will flap and wear at the fixing points. Blockout fabric carries an opaque inner layer that stops light passing through the material. You need it in two situations: when the banner is printed on both sides and you do not want one design ghosting through to the other, and when the banner hangs in front of a window, a lit wall or an open hall where backlighting would wash out your artwork. Without it, a single-layer fabric in a bright space can look faded even though the print itself is correct.

Supply artwork at 100 to 150 DPI at final size as a PDF, AI or EPS, with fonts outlined and bleed included. Yes. Fabric graphics are designed to be used across multiple events, folded flat between shows and re-tensioned onto the same hardware each time. Because the dye is embedded in the fibre, gentle washing will not lift or dull the print, so light marks picked up in transit can be dealt with rather than the banner being written off. If your branding changes, you can reprint the fabric alone and keep the frame you already own.
